Cupid (also known as Eros) and Psyche represent love and soul in Greek myths.  Cupid's mother, goddess Venus, was envious of the beauty of her son's beloved so she sent Psyche into the underworld to fetch a vessel containing the water of youth but forbid Psyche from opening it.  Psyche could not resist looking inside the flask and fell into a deep sleep.  Here we see the kiss of Cupid that brought Psyche to life.
