One night I was kept awake, firstly by the howling antics of two cats
on the lawn and later by the howling antics of teenagers clearly, if
not tunefully, returning from the pub. Sleep may have been elusive
that night but an idea for a box was born.
I too remember those trips home after partaking in that great British
sport - drinking to excess. There were several rituals that had to be
followed on the journey home .... either kebabs or chips to soak up
the alcohol and then the kleptomania began ... road signs, bollards,
lamps, nothing was safe from our intoxicated souvenir hunting. On my
box the cats have become the drunken revelers, one has a knot in his
tail and a canary tattoo and yet in the morning his memory will be
unable to explain either!
The Sam Adams beer bottle has J.C. on the label. This was for the
gifted artist James Christensen who died in January. I met James at
Rosemont and he was very helpful and complementary about my work. A
