The Spindrift series reflects the origins of
Martin Perry's career making reproduction
Scrimshaw: bone objects (usually tusks)
etched with nautical themes. In early 2004,
David Lawrence, with experience in
'Scraperboard' - a similar technique using
wood, was commissioned to make some 'new'
scrimshaw styles using animals as the base.
David carved six pieces and suggested the
name 'Spindrift'. |
